Well, it said in the downloads it was, but once I downloaded it, it wouldn't install. Emailed ccPublisher and asked if it supported Me and the reply came back, "Sorry, no". I don't have or know ftp, so is there another program I can use to get my video up? Anyone?

You can use MSIE's builtin FTP support.
Follow directions after the submit.
(Look for the link provided that is suggested
to be clicked in an MSIE browser).

http://www.archive.org/movies/movies-contribute.php?stage=upload_info
(the 2nd bold number (1) bullet 8-)

It's a bit more manual work than CCpublisher,
but it *will* work! 8-)

Hi Tracy!
It brought me to my ftp blank page, but I wasn't able to add anything to it or even put in a folder.
There were no instructions other than taking me to my page. I'm totally lost and mind boggled as I've been trying to get this video up for months now and nothing is working.
Once up...ANYWHERE! Then I can show it to my page by using the .asx extention from where ever it is.
I'm using the internet archives as it was suggested to me that I could upload it onto the net that way. If there is a different, easier root to take, I sure would appreciate knowing about it. As you can see, I have no clue when it comes to ftp.
I am using FrontPage to make my pages, but then I copy and paste to Yahoo! Geocities. Geocities doesn't allow .wmv files and that is why I am searching for some other way to get it up there.
I did have one person that was going to put it up on her site so we could both link to it and she would give me credit for it, but unfortunately her system is down and in the shop for how long, we are not sure. I'm stuck and frustrated.

if you're using MSIE,
you should be able to just drag and drop
your files into the FTP window.
you make a subdirectory for you item,
then open that subdir and drag files into it.

we'll have a newer system in place very soon
that's a little easier, and i can send you a link
to it later today if you want to try that instead.

YES PLEASE!!! Do I have to have a ftp program too to get it there...or does it just go in? (I know! Probably sounds like really dumb questions...but at this point, I think my brain got so confused, I've lost most of it from over use.) LOL

OK, try going to http://www.archive.org/create/

It's *very* important that you try your best to
follow directions and read everything that the "path" you will follow asks you to do or adhere to.

Please use Microsoft Internet Explorer for this system (as you don't have another FTP client).

After your item is created, you will need to drag and drop your movie files from your desktop / home computer and into the MSIE FTP window once you see "ftp://blah" in your browser.

If you get stuck, email
tracey at
archive

org

KATHY!!! WE DID IT!!! It's up...so now I have another question? How do I view it? I see everything up there, my stats and everything about it. Everything except for the video presentation itself. Can you not view it without downloading it?

yah, you need to either hit a "download"
or "stream" link on the left hand side.

we only stream realmedia (.rm) and MPEG-4 (.mp4)
(and maaaaaybe quicktime (.mov) -- but don't think so).

congrats! yay!

You're not going to believe this. *sob* When you press the media player to download, it takes you to a page that says it can't find the server error.

only thing i can think of is that perhaps
the SPACE characters in your WMV file are
causing issues.

you can do
www.archive.org/checkout/the_truth_about_pitbulls
and then rename it with the MSIE FTP client
to a name without spaces and then
see if that works.

otherwise, doing a right-mouse-click "save as"
of the link should work (and then open it in a viewer once it's been saved to your harddrive).
